Lead Graphic Guru
Lead Designer Yana Belcher (Huseva) was destined to be an artist from an extremely young age. “Immediately after I learned to stand, I began painting on every surface in my home — the walls, the floor, the ceiling — I painted them all. My mother saw the joy I took in creation and enrolled me in art classes as soon as she could.”
By age five, she had already decided to be an architect. 14 years later, she graduated from Dniprovsʹkyy Derzhavnyy Koledzh Budivelʹno-Montazhnykh Tekhnolohiy Ta Arkhitektury and continued her education at the Prydniprovska State Academy of Civil Engineering and Architecture. During her education, she worked for a small architectural firm in her hometown that undertook multiple projects throughout the city.
In 2018, she came to America and began painting immediately. In school, she discovered a love of painting architectural subjects with acute perspective, and she often draws from impressionists such as Van Gogh and Monet and symbolists like Vrubel. Yana also enjoys mixed mediums, a wide variety of styles and imbues her art with life using everything from crayons to oil paints.
Her expansive range of form, style and medium gives her art a transformational and vibrant feel as seen in the uplifting, hopeful branding and communications design for the Council for Children’s Rights, the dazzling and sheik magazine layouts for The Textile Museum and the somber yet celebratory array of posters, invitations, presentational art and honorary coin design for the Institute for the Study of War’s Presidential Circle Dinner honoring their guest Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
Yana continues her passion as a fine artist in her free time and has pieces for purchase or commission on her website:
Randomness Manager
Sonya Kopp graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with a Master of Science, where she began her career in Administrative Coordination at UPMC in the Department of Transplant Pathology. That first step started a journey that has taken her across the United States and culminated in 18 years of experience in her field.
As her title — Randomness Manager — suggests, Sonya supports a plethora of projects at Suchy Design, ranging from print production management and logistical execution of major political campaign materials to the backbone of human resources documentation and processes management, social media coordination, research and the complexities of juggling everything from digital advertising to bookkeeping.
Sonya recognized her passion for customer service as a teen working at a video rental store. She valued customer engagement and fully implementing the “customer is always right” approach and continues this work ethic in all projects, client interactions and relations. She’s known for bringing a calm and friendly approach to every project and everyone with whom she interacts.
Sonya never stops moving, by choice and force, now that she has three young sons with her husband. They enjoy tent camping at the beach and in the mountains, being outdoors whenever possible and listening to random and obscure music and records.
